OCB 'ActivTips' Activated Charcoal Filters (Extra Slim)

After trying many different carbon filters for joints, the OCB 'ActivTips' Activated Charcoal Filters (Extra Slim) have become our favourite. These filter tips are perfectly sized (many other charcoal filters are too wide for most people), they don't give off any weird taste or smell, and reduces the tar intake by filtering the smoke very well (without reducing the high!).

Because these OCB carbon filters are made with ceramic caps on both sides of the filter with nothing inbetween but the active charcoal, the smoke is filtered amazingly well without reducing the high. To be fair: yes, these filters do partly filter out the taste of your weed as well, but you still taste it (unlike some other carbon filters for joints). We love these filters especially because they save our lungs and teeth by keeping away a large portion of the tar. Do you sometimes feel dirty after smoking, wanting to brush your teeth? We do, but when we use these carbon filters in our joints, our teeth feel (are) less dirty and our lungs and throat feel much less irritated, almost without coughing. 

So how do these filters work? Simple! They work like a regular cigarette filter, but instead of a cotton fiber filter, these OCB filters use activated carbon / charcoal to filter the smoke. Activated carbon is very porous, and therefore absorbs dirty odours and particles exceptionally well (carbon filters are also used in aquariums, kitchen extractors, and of course... to filter the smell of weed grow ops!). As a result, a large part of the tar and other dirty particles are removed from the smoke when it passes through the filter.

We sometimes hear complaints of carbon filters making the draw too hard, reducing the airflow to the point where it doesn't smoke well anymore. But these OCB filters do not affect drag or airflow: in fact, it draws better / easier than most regular filter tips! Another obvious advantage (for the lazy smokers) is that you don't need to roll a filter anymore. Just take it out of the bag, roll it up in your paper, and you're ready to light up!

Thanks to the ceramic caps, you can smoke your joint or cigarette all the way down to the filter, without having to worry about the filter burning. The ceramic caps are very heat-resistant and completely free of taste, so you can enjoy your joint to the last draw. And because the filters slightly reduce the taste, these carbon filters are also very popular among joint tokers who use (a lot of) tobacco in their joints. Most of these people don't like the tast of tobacco but use it as a "filler", to save weed. Using an OCB carbon filter will make your joint with or without tobacco taste better, cleaner and much smoother.
